today I got an email from AFS asking me to sign a waiver form to say that I am willing to do all of the Finland-specific activities that they will have at orientations. I was looking down the list of activities (skiing; snowshoeing; snowboarding; ice-fishing &c) and then I got to one that made me stop and read it over a few more times:
obtaining a reindeer driving license
at that moment I became intensely glad that I had chosen to go to Finland.
That's awesome!
VastaaPoistaSorry, I don't know you and I'm not going to Finland, but that's really cool. Makes me wish I WAS going to Finland, haha. :)
thanks so much Amy! I'm pretty excited. c:
Poistaalso, I was looking at your blog and your host family's farm looks so beautiful!
Thanks! I'm pretty excited myself!! Of course, there will be no chance of reindeer driving... oh well. [:
PoistaThat sounds INCREDIBLE! lucky you=)
VastaaPoista:]
PoistaI'm still jealous that you get to live in the same city as the best library in the world!
ALIZA we can pick up all the Finnish man babes in our reindeer cars. Once we get our licenses haha. :P
VastaaPoistaI think I'm just going to use mine to cart blueberries around.:þ
PoistaI'm from Finland and I've actually had the reindeer driving license obtained. The "test" basically contained of an hour of sitting on a sledge pulled by a reindeer. The reindeers' "owner" led the sledge but in the end of the tour, I got to try it myself. After that I got the license which expired a year later. I don't know where your orientation is going to be but I got my license at Salla (a fell in Lapland).
VastaaPoistaGood luck for your year in Finland!
kivaa!! tuskin maltan odotta. (:
